Aug 13 (Reuters) – U.S. judges have broad power to restore market competition and punish companies that hold illegal monopolies, the Federal Trade Commission on Monday told a California judge who is weighing proposed reforms to Google’s app store Play.

The Federal Trade Commission advised a district court to use its power to “break up or render impotent the monopoly power” of Google and restore competition in a case brought by Epic Games. The agency said Tuesday in an amicus brief filed with the U.

Google and Apple also both have differing policies about how their respective Ongoing Services Fee and Store Services Fee work beyond the first year. Google’s Ongoing Services Fee: After two years, a developer can choose to discontinue ongoing services for their app. However, the user must consent to this discontinuation of services.
