Prospective iPhone 16 buyers will eagerly watch out for announcements on new camera technology, a faster processor and bigger batteries when Apple unveils its latest handsets next week. However, one change that we know is coming is also one of the most important: Apple’s policy on parts pairing.

All will be revealed at Apple’s “Glowtime” event, scheduled for Monday, September 9, at 10 a.m. PT. The company is expected to announce four iPhone 16 models and at least two new Apple Watches. We’ll also learn more about “Apple Intelligence,” powered by the company’s new A18 Pro chip.

Apple plans to reveal the A18 chip based on Arm’s newest design architecture at Monday’s event, according to sources familiar who spoke with the Financial Times. Arm’s architecture, which is used in nearly every smartphone chip, outlines how a central processor works at its most basic level.
