Regular leaker Sonny Dickson has posted a photo of a pair of cases alleged to be for a fourth-generation iPhone SE, which could be announced as soon as late October.

For example, Tim Cook & Co can decide to discontinue the iPhone 14 (which currently starts at $600), and have the iPhone SE take its place. The only “downgrade” going from the iPhone 14 to the SE 4 would be the lack of an ultra-wide camera, which might justify a $600 price given all the upgrades.

Although the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be based on the iPhone 14 design, it does not have the same dual camera setup as the iPhone 14. This means there’ll be no ultra wide camera, although the iPhone SE is still expected to have a 48MP main sensor, the same one as the iPhone 15.

As Apple gears up to launch the powerful mid-ranger next year, a new report hints that the phone may not debut alone.

That could change with the Pixel 9a. An early rumor suggests Google might launch the phone in March, as it looks to move up the schedule of A Series releases. That such a move would coincide with the iPhone SE’s rumored launch window may be an intentional move.

The iPhone SE 4, due in early 2025, is expected to have the same processor as the iPhone 16 and the same camera sensor as the iPhone 15. Prices haven’t leaked yet, but a higher price is highly likely.

The current iPhone SE is the only phone Apple sells that still uses LCD for its displays. The rest of the iPhone lineup features OLED, even older models that Apple keeps around at discounted prices. That could change with the iPhone SE 4, which is tipped to get an OLED panel of its own.
